Funimation Dominates The Industry

01/24/2009 by Sebastian Langkilde

Funimation

Due to the recent recession, Funimation has packed up titles from other competing North American anime companies who are struggling. Geneon and ADV has lost some of their most popular titles:

Ikki Tousen*
Gad Guard*
Vandread*
Nabari no Ou
Last Exile*
Oh! Edo Rocket
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo*
Slayers Revolution/Slayers Evolution-R
Gungrave*
Samurai Champloo*
Soul Eater
Evangelion:1.0 You Are (Not) Alone
* Formerly released by Geneon Entertainment

Who would have thought that, honestly, ten years ago a piss poor anime company that only had DBZ, and could barely get it on TV, and some other small titles would go on to become the most powerful Anime distributor in North America, profit in a horrible recession, and now almost an monopoly in the Anime Industry? Wow!
This is a long time coming! I can’t wait to discuss this in Anime Club.

There has been a bit of activity over this last holiday, and I wanted to make sure y’all know about it. ;)

We are currently in some undisclosed negotiations with Film Club, and we plan to get a movie played with them. We haven’t decided on a movie yet, and that’s all I’ll say for now.
The officers and I have finished recording the podcast! I’m still in the process of editing the audio, but I should be done soon…I hope, I’ve been very busy since Friday. But you may check these out as an simple of what’s to come!

By the way, if anyone is interested in a good slap-stick Anime, check this out, courtesy of Anime News Network.

That’s all for now, oh and Happy New Year to you all! See ya in 2009!

Adult Swim takes on Anime

12/20/2008 by Sebastian Langkilde

Adult swim is official taking on Anime as a whole. Adult Swim has always been very opposed to Anime as a whole over the years. The new weekend schedule with two hours of new anime episodes, followed by three hours of classic anime.

Here goes the schedule:
Time       Title
11:00     Robot Chicken
11:30     Aqua Teen Hunger Force
12:00     Boondocks
12:30     Boondocks
01:00    Bleach
01:30     Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit
02:00    Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
02:30    Shin-chan
03:00    FLCL
03:30    Death Note
04:00    Ghost in the Shell
04:30    Cowboy Bebop
05:00    The Big O
05:30    Inuyasha
* All times are Eastern/Pacific Time

I think it’s great that we get FLCL and Cowboy Bebop back. Those were some of my favorite Anime in the early 2000’s. FLCL is one of my favorite Anime of all time, so this is great. But we also have The Big O, which is great. I just wish they would have added Evanogelion Neon Genesis and Out Law Star. But at least there’s something instead of nothing. So be sure to check that stuff out ever Saturday.

This video is really funny! As the game being decent, the commercials have been hilarious as well.
As you can see this one applies to all sorts of social groups, so I hope you all check the game out if you have a chance.

There is another version of this video, but it is as good as the one I embedded. If you wanna see it, click here.

Also, listen to the intro song to Burst Limit: “Kiseki no Hono yo Moeagare” by Hironobu Kageyama, Mr. DBZ. Besides being a good song, it’s an awesome rock song. Go ahead and check it out.

Movie Commercial: A Special Guest?

11/01/2008 by Sebastian Langkilde

Hey guys!
I have some special announcements. We’ll be pushing back FMP, an undisclosed date, so that we can discuss and possibly work on a commercial. I have some I ideas on what food to sell there, ticket prices, and what will be on the commercial.
For food, I was thinking Joanna and Roxanna’s donuts or having my mom and I make our own snacks. I might make brownies, cookies, or whatever else we can decide on.
So, for ticket prices, I was thinking $3-$5. What do you think?

As for our commercial, I have an idea. I was just gonna be a simple commercial, but then something AMAZING happened. I talked to a very cool someone and his good friend. So, to cut to the chase…well this guy is gonna help us out for our commercial (below).

Principal Lewis

Well…I see no need to explain who that is.

Approved!

10/30/2008 by Sebastian Langkilde

On November 18, we’ll be able to use the theater to watch our first movie this year. Ms. Stephanie Iseri-Fitzpatrick (Japanese Teacher for levels 1-5) will be there to watch over us all.
I personally invite everyone to come out and watch a Japanese film with us. The movies is for all ages, and is a family film. Teachers bring your family!
As for my fellow officers, you are required to come and help with setting up and whatever Tech Ninjas need.

Please leave some us some questions or feed back by commenting on this news piece.
